Google's Pixel phones are known for their great cameras and clean software, but one area where they've lagged behind the competition is in-display fingerprint sensors. That's all set to change with the Pixel 9 series, according to a new report.

The report claims that Google will be ditching the optical fingerprint sensor used in previous Pixel phones in favor of a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are generally considered to be faster and more reliable than optical sensors, so this is a welcome change for Pixel fans.

The Pixel 9 series is also rumored to be getting a new Pink colorway, which is sure to turn heads. All three Pixel phones (Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and possibly a Pixel 9a) are expected to be unveiled next month, so we don't have long to wait to see if these rumors are true.

In addition to the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and new colorway, the Pixel 9 series is also expected to sport some other improvements, including a faster processor and an improved camera system. We'll know more for sure next month, but so far, the Pixel 9 series is shaping up to be a pretty exciting release.
